Pure Knowledge (• to ∞)
Last evening I returned home from a Transcendental Meditation retreat that lasted for 6 nights and 5 days in a remote location in West Virginia, USA. When I arrived I didn’t realize that I already somehow stepped inside of a silence that contained this lively dynamism, and slowly my awareness expanded towards this silent, yet fully expressed totality. During this roughly 120 (±) hour retreat my five senses seemed to adjust to an experience of both the finest impulses of creation and simultaneously their most grossed expressed value. From • to ∞.
Let’s go on a little journey in our own minds … You’re consciousness, you’re aware, but you’re also aware of your surroundings. So that consciousness which is pure in its nature collapses, naturally and spontaneously on its self and that is none other than consciousness, it’s just another aspect of itself. Consciousness knows itself. However whenever it does that there is some activity that goes on, it knows self (it collapses) then it also knows it’s nothing other than consciousness. All of this happens within a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second at an infinite frequency. Within this purely abstract gap is what gives us our own individuality, because as that loops back onto itself it creates eight other values.
Ego, intellect, mind, space, air, fire, water, and earth comprise the eight प्रकृति (prakriti). From ego, comes intellect. From intellect, comes mind. From mind, comes space. From space, comes air. From air, comes fire. From fire, comes water. From water, comes earth. You'll notice each one gets grosser or denser and the latter is a comment on the former. And so, this is a sequence that is eternal and it just goes on and on and on. And when it goes on in the transcendent it creates a blueprint for creation, and just like a building has a blueprint, all of creation also has a blueprint and that blueprint is responsible for everything that goes on in the universe. So there is this same sequence, over and over again at an ∞ frequency.
“Consciousness is that which is conscious of itself. Being conscious of itself, consciousness is the knower of itself. Being the knower of itself, consciousness is both the knower and the known. Being both the knower and the known, consciousness is also the process of knowing. Thus consciousness has three qualities within its self-referral singularity - the qualities of knower, knowing, and known - the three qualities of ‘subject’ (knower), ‘object’ (known), and the relationship between the subject and object (process of knowing).” - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Additional Experiences During Meditation:
The finest impulse to open my eyes and see God’s grace in everything.
While indoors, the outside wind rustled the tress and I thought it happened to me.
A vision or “flash” of the woods at night, bathed in a golden light.
This three fold structure of consciousness: the subject, the object, and process of knowing is considered a “bit” of consciousness. I wonder how many “bits” of consciousness may we perceive in 24 hours of waking, sleeping, and dreaming? 1 billion, 1 trillion, 1 quadrillion? If the subject of observation isn’t established in Self and instead has its basis in ignorance, life will never be fulfilling because it is baseless, without a solid foundation in true reality. Similar to living life in a house without a solid foundation, as this will give rise to suffering because we will always worry our house may fall apart at any moment.
From • to ∞. Fullness emerges from fullness. The universe and all of its structures and dynamics emanate and flow from this state of unbounded fullness. The finest impulse contains the whole of the gross. The finest value of a tree, which is almost but not completely abstract, has the whole of the tree within it. On such level, every impulse of thought contains this fullness.
The Yoga Sutras 4.18-4.21 speak on the illumination of the mind. The mind is not self-illuminating. The mind is not a source of its own awareness, but rather reflects the light of Self like the moon reflects the light of the sun.
Here are a handful of books from the Vedic library. This experience and knowledge I have gained from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Transcendental Meditation is infinite. Jai Guru Dev. 🪷 ♾️ 🤍
